Located in the “Motor City”, Belle isle Park was the picturesque backdrop for the fourth of ten rounds toward the United Sports Car Championship (USCC). It proved to be a very turbulent weekend that became a matter of survival for the team Paul Miller Racing and its drivers, American Dion von Moltke and Germany’s Christopher Haase. Ultimately, they were rewarded with pole position, fastest race lap, the place on the third step of the podium, and an extended lead in the overall points standings.
Ten days from now, Christopher Haase will take part in what he considers to be his personal highlight of the season, the legendary 24 hour race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Driving the latest version of the Audi R8 LMS for Phoenix Racing together with his fellow Audi factory drivers Christian Mamerow, René Rast, and Markus Winkelhock, he will aim for nothing less than the defence of his title from last year, and his third overall victory on what is considered to be the world’s most challenging racetrack. “The Phoenix Racing team is ready as it can be, and our car is a potential winner. Now it is up to my colleagues and myself to reach that goal. Winning here will certainly take a little bit of luck, but I am very excited to face the challenge of the Nürburgring!”
